27 years ago on May 16th,
1989 at Decatur Memorial Hospital a legend in the making was born and that
legend was me. That’s right y’all today is my 27th birthday and I
cannot believe it! It seems like just yesterday day I couldn’t wait to turn 13,
then 18, then 21 and here I am just a few years shy of 30, sweet baby Jesus! We
all know that you have to get older but recently it seems that the years have
been going by faster and faster.
Over the past 26 years of life I
have definitely learned a lot about myself and about life. I have grown and
matured. I have lost friends and I have gained new friends. I have cried a lot and
I have smiled a lot. I have bad times but the good times have definitely
outweighed those. I have succeeded at things and failed at things. Overall,
though, lessons have been learned so in this post I am going to share 6 things
I learned in chapter 26 of my life. Here we go:
1.
God’s plan is not your plan. I had this plan to
graduate high school, go straight to a 4 year school, finish in 4 years and
start a career. That did not happen and I was highly upset about it. I felt
that I was unsuccessful. I had failed at a goal I set. Well in at the age of 26
I decided to go back to school and get my degree. I am so close and realized
that the time was right for me and God had my back.
2.
You have to travel and see the world. I recently
went on a cruise for my birthday to the Bahamas and the experience was great.
The water was so blue, the weather was amazing, the food was great, I met
amazing people and so much more. You have to be willing to see the world. Spend
the money and get a passport and travel. The amount of money you spend on going
out or eating out you could save and travel. See the world!
3.
Life is too short. Life is really to short so if
you want something go after it. If you love somebody tell them. If you like
somebody tell them. Don’t spend your days mad and upset about small things. Be
happy and live your life because tomorrow is not promised.
4.
My momma is truly my number 1 supporter. Sounds
crazy right but every time I was down and out besides God my momma was always
there. Simple as that. She keeps me motivated and encouraged when I’m just not
feeling like myself.
5.
Forgive but never forget. You have to forgive people
to be able to free yourself. Once you forgive I promise you will live a better
life. Your heart will be lifted and your days will be bright. Who knows you
might find a friend in somebody that you fell out with and the relationship
could be the best it has ever been.
6.
Follow your dreams. There were times when I wanted
to quit blogging, not go back to school, give up on my goals of building a
build and be a regular person. I had to realize that God didn’t put me on this
earth to be a regular person but put me here to follow my dream, fulfill my
purpose and be extraordinary.
To celebrate chapter 26 of course I
had to put together an outfit that captured my feelings during that year. I
choose this white dress. White is clean and fresh and to me means a fresh
start, clean slate. Paired with neutral heels and gold jewelry makes me feel
grown up and royal. This look is fresh and clean, sexy and classic. This is me
and there is no turning back. Chapter 27, lets write a chapter so good
everybody buys the book.
