Blackish

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of previewing the new sitcom, Blackish starring Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson. They play a married couple with good jobs. They have 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters and they live in a colonial home in the suburbs. Now I’m not going to give away any surprises of the first episode but I will say that any preconceived thoughts that you have about Blackish throw them out the window. It was nothing like I thought it was going to be!
The first show starts off like any series, they try to give the background information so you might feel like you are being pumped with a lot during the beginning but I truly enjoyed it! I believe that the shows to follow will be really good. I intend on being a weekly viewer.
Blackish is going to be something like the Cosby’s with a twist. Now you might say, “T Danni what do you mean by that?” I mean that it’s not going to be your ratchet black television show but it’s going to show case a family that is doing well in life. It will show two parents trying to raise their kids to be the best that they can be. The twist is that even though they are a black family, Anthony Anderson feels as if his family is living a fine line between black and white. NO, it’s not going to be a white VS black situation nor is it going to be a racial type of show. It’s going to appeal to people that are tired of seeing blacks displayed in a negative light and take you back to those 90’s sitcoms like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters, Sister Sister, Moesha and so many more that we know and love.
In my opinion I think on September 24, 2014 everybody should be tuned into Blackish which will air on ABC. Check your local TV listing for times. I know that I will be tuned in (even though I've already seen it). Let’s make sure that good black TV shows stay on TV and leave some of those negative shows in the past.
I would like to thank Nikka from OhNikki for giving me the passes to go to the view it here in Atlanta.
Are you going to be watching Blackish?
