Last Minute Holiday Formal

Can you believe it? Christmas is tomorrow and here I am writing a blog post about last minute formal wear for a holiday party. Personally my family dinners are pretty causal and I have never attended a formal holiday party but I always see the cutest formal dresses around the holiday season. Luckily New Year is right around the corner so this look can be transitioned right on to the next holiday.

This year I decided that I would bring you a formal look that I threw together all in one day! Yes girl, it took me just one day to find this amazing dress. Now I know that I have been invited to dinners, parties, and gathering last minute and for a blogger I never have anything to wear in my closet especially formal. So here are 5 tips that I used to find this formal look in less than 8 hours:
  1. Wear a pair of shoes that you have at home. For me wearing shoes that I already have at home makes the process so much easier. I wear a size 11 so sometimes it can be a pain trying to find a shoe at the last minute.
  2. Take those shoes with you to the store. This allows you ability to make sure the dress you choose goes great with shoes instead of getting all the home to find out it looks a mess.
  3. Take your shape wear (if planning to wear it) with you and wear a good bra. When trying on the dress you will already know that looks smooth with the proper undergarments.
  4.  Find a dress that you can save and wear for another event if you had to. Simple as it reads. One dress can take you to at least 2 formal events during the season.
  5.  My last and best tip I can give, go to your local discount stores such as Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshalls, even Burlington Coat Factory to find a dress. Not only do they have a ton of formal dresses to pick from around this season they are really inexpensive. Stay away from the mall and them mall prices.
These are just a few of the tips I used when finding this amazing black dress at my local Ross Dress for Less store. When I tried it on I automatically knew that it would be prefect for a formal dinner that I was invited to. It went with my shoes, it featured the amazing studded sleeve cuffs and it fit like a glove. I keep it simple with faux diamond hanging earrings, a ring and simple clutch.

I hope these tips help you have an impromptu invite this holiday season.
