Hats on Rooftops

When I was younger I was never a big fan of hats. I had a few snapbacks with my favorite teams on them (#ShoutOut to the Chicago Bulls and the Charlotte Hornets pre-moved to New Orleans and back to Charlotte) but that was about it. There was this Easter that my mom bought me this dress with a matching church hat that I rocked to Easter service and everybody thought was just adorable (I’ll post a picture on Instagram if I can find it). Other than that, no hats until now.

My love for hats started a few years ago. I went to visit my Aunt Evelyn, she’s my mom’s oldest sister, and our family’s church aunt. She is in church just about every Sunday, dressed to kill with a sharp church hat on. While we were visiting my mom helped her organize her church hats and while they organized I did what I do best, played dress up in her hats. To my surprise I looked pretty good them and my aunt thought so too. Everything else is history, I have been buying hats ever since.

The fall and winter months are when I wear hats the most. The temperature is just right and they make every outfit that much more chic. This outfit was no exception . I put this outfit together for a lunch date one weekend. I wanted to be comfortable but cute and to my surprise these pants were just that plus they still had the price tag on them. I kept it simple with a black quarter length sleeve top and black chunky boots which are really on trend. My outfit was pretty much complete but needed a little something extra. It was too warm for a jacket and I wanted a minimal necklace. That’s when I reached for my fall favorite, a black fedora hat and it just pulled it together.

What accessory do you use to pull an outfit together?
